The iPad Pro received a significant update this year that sets it ahead of the Surface Pro 7 (which came in late 2019) in almost all regards. It also doesn't behave like the laptop's you might be used to, though iPadOS is improving in that regard.īut, if your needs are more flexible, the Apple iPad Pro outshines the Surface Pro 7. Apple's iPadOS is just a little more locked down and may not support all the traditional software you need, especially if they are specific to Windows. If you absolutely need to run a laptop operating system, the Surface Pro 7 is your only choice.
Microsoft also announced the Pro 7, which will remain in the lineup, will get an update to Windows 11 in the near future. Note that at time of posting, Microsoft announced the Surface Pro 8, hence the Pro 7's price drop.
